US Navy (USN) aircraft carrier USS Dwight D Eisenhower (CVN 69), as well as the ships and aircraft of Carrier Strike Group 10 (CSG-10), departed earlier this month for deployment in the Atlantic Ocean after successfully completing the Composite Unit Training Exercise (COMPTUEX), the US 2nd Fleet confirmed on 20 February.
Eisenhower started COMPTUEX in January after finishing its recent extended maintenance availability, which lasted about 18 months. The carrier completed the exercise with allied naval forces, including ships from the Royal Canadian Navy, the French Navy, and the Danish Navy before being deployed.
COMPTUEX tests the strike group’s ability to carry out sustained combat operations from the sea.
