Thales UK has showcased a developmental software application intended to improve the exploitation and visualisation of passive electronic warfare (EW) data.
Being developed by the company’s EW business in Crawley under internal research and development funding, the ESSence visualisation tool was designed to improve realtime EW situational awareness and command appreciation to enable more timely and accurate decision-making. It is to adopt a more intuitive graphical user interface, and embed big data and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to ease operator workload and provide timely decision support.
The gestation of ESSence reflects concerns that operational commanders and command teams are unable to fully exploit the information received by a traditional analogue radar electronic support measures (RESM) system.
