Australia has launched an AUD500 million (USD340 million) Deployable Force Infrastructure project, with initial funding of AUD150 million announced by Defence Minister Linda Reynolds on 13 February.
Project Land 8140 will allow the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to rapidly and independently support a range of operations in the region, including humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, peacekeeping and warfighting, the minister said in a statement.
The initial investment is set to fund work to modernise deployable sanitation, catering, water management and treatment, shelters, and power generation, the minister said.
