Australia is bidding to increase defence exports to Southeast Asia as part of a wider push to deepen strategic engagements across the region, David Johnston, the Defence Export Advocate of the Australian government has told Jane’s .
Speaking on 11 February at the Singapore Airshow 2020, Johnston said a strong Australian business presence at the event, which has seen many international firms withdraw over concerns about the coronavirus, was evidence of Australian defence companies’ commitment to securing sales and forming partnerships in the region.
