Turkey will provide aid to Ukraine to help its armed forces buy arms under an agreement signed by the two countries on 3 February during a visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Kyiv.

The agreement was signed by Ukrainian Defence Minister Andriy Zagorodniuk and Turkish Finance Minister Berat Albayrak during the eighth Ukrainian-Turkish High Level Strategic Council meeting chaired by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Erdoğan.

Zelensky’s press service said on its website on 3 February that Ankara would give Kyiv USD33 million for the acquisition of Turkish military and dual-use goods.

Zelenksy said an agreement had been reached on co-operation in the aviation industry, in particular the construction of An-178 transport aircraft.
