Armenia to receive more Su-30SM fighters

Armenia will soon receive another batch of Su-30SM multirole fighters, Defence Minister David Tonoyan told journalists during Army Day commemorations on 28 January, Russian news agencies reported the same day. Tonoyan also announced an increase in the Armenian Armed Forces’ military equipment of “tens of percent”, while not disclosing exactly how much or what kind.

Russia’s RIA-Novosti news agency reported in February 2019 that the next batch of four Su-30SMs is expected to be delivered in May or June 2020, citing a source in the Southern Military District. In November 2019 Tonoyan confirmed plans to acquire a total of 12 of the combat aircraft.
