Spanish engineering group Sener Aeroespacial has appointed its first director general in charge of defence projects, part of a company reorganisation aimed at expanding its presence in the sector.
Rafael Orbe joined the company from Revenga Smart Solutions, where he held a similar post in charge of telecoms, security, and defence. He is also a member of the directors’ think tank, Know Square.
A company spokesperson told Jane’s on 4 February that the reorganisation was a follow-up to the takeover of Tryo Aerospace & Electronics from investment company Alantra in June 2018.
This had expanded Sener’s own aerospace division to the point where it had been decided to separate defence as a stand-alone commercial area.
