Cobham Aviation Services Australia and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc (GA-ASI) have announced an extension to an existing agreement providing support in Australia for GA-ASI’s MQ-9B SkyGuardian unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and its maritime surveillance variant SeaGuardian.
Cobham said on 3 February that the five-year extension covers the introduction of the two unmanned aircraft into Australia and the provision of whole-of-life support arrangements for other GA-ASI products.
The SkyGuardian was selected by Australia in November 2019 to fulfil a requirement for an armed medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) under Project Air 7003, which is scheduled for government consideration in 2021–22.
