Russia's fifth Alexandrit-class (Project 12700) mine countermeasures vessel (MCMV), Yakov Balyayev , was launched at Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard in St Petersburg on 29 January.

Announcing the launch, Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard said Yakov Balyayev will now undergo final trials before being transferred to the Russian Navy in the third quarter of 2020.

The lead ship of the class, Alexander Obukhov , was delivered to the Baltic Fleet in 2016, while third-in-class Ivan Antonov was handed over to the Black Sea Fleet in January 2019. Delivery of second-in-class Georgiy Kurbatov has been delayed by a fire during construction at Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard in 2016. Fourth ship Vladimir Yemelyanov was launched in May 2019 and is currently undergoing acceptance trials.
