The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) announced on 28 January that it has received the first batch of 15 Streit Cougar light armoured vehicles from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Cougars are the first of 30 vehicles the UAE is donating as part of a wider agreement that also covers the sale of 100 Streit Typhoon mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles. The FAMa said on 31 January that 35 Typhoons have been delivered so far.
The Cougar is a 4×4 protected mobility vehicle built on a Toyota Land Cruiser 79-series chassis and is designed to transport up eight troops, including a driver and front passenger.
