Alsalam Aerospace Industries, an aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) firm in Saudi Arabia, said on 27 January that it has named longtime US aerospace executive Karl Jeppesen as its acting president and CEO.
Jeppesen has nearly 30 years of experience in aerospace supplier management, including as supply chain vice-president at Boeing Defense, Space & Security, where he led more than 2,000 employees. He also has held management jobs at Northrop Grumman and Hughes Aircraft.
At Alsalam, Jeppesen said he plans to help Saudi Arabia achieve its goal of expanding its domestic defence industry to diversify its oil-dependent economy. The kingdom, a major arms importer, wants to “localize” 50% of its spending on military equipment and services by 2030, up from less than 5% today.
