The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) has launched a centralised warfighting agency to provide expanded test and evaluation, tactical development and operational analysis throughout the capability life cycle.
The Sydney-based Maritime Warfare Centre (MWC) was formally opened on 20 January and merges the Royal Australian Navy Test and Evaluation Authority (RANTEA) and the Australian Maritime Warfare Centre (AMWC).
MWC director Captain David Frost told the media that the new centre will establish "test and tactic development teams" to support navy programmes from inception to completion - planning, collecting and analysing data - and help make informed critical decisions regarding current and future systems.
