Raptor Scientific, a new US measurement and testing firm focused on aerospace and defence, has named industry veteran Derek Coppinger as its CEO.
Coppinger was previously vice president at Newcastle Systems, which provides mobile workstations and portable power systems. He is a former chief operating officer at testing company National Technical Systems (NTS) and a former chairman of the American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL).
L Squared Capital Partners, a private equity firm headquartered in Newport Beach, California, said it formed Raptor last year to consolidate the "highly fragmented" aerospace and defence measurement and testing sector. Raptor acquired Space Electronics of Berlin, Connecticut, in September and expects to make more acquisitions.
