BAE Systems lands major APKWS II contract

The United States Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has awarded BAE Systems a major contract for the supply of additional WGU-59/B Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System II (APKWS II) 70 mm/2.75 inch guided rocket systems.

The award, announced by the US Department of Defense (DoD) on 26 September and confirmed by BAE Systems on 18 December, provides for the procurement of an undisclosed quantity of full rate production Lots 8-12 WGU-59/B units under a USD2.7 billion firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.

According to the DoD statement, the procurement will "support [US] Navy, Army, Air Force, and foreign military sales requirements to include the governments of Iraq, Lebanon, Netherlands, Jordan, Afghanistan, United Kingdom, Tunisia, Philippines and Australia".
