Russia’s Kuznetsov carrier catches fire

A fire broke out on the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov at a dock in Murmansk, northwestern Russia, state news agency TASS reported on 12 December, citing a source in the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies, and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMERCOM). Private news agency Interfax said on 13 December that the carrier was still burning that morning, covering a 600 m² area.

Interfax gave the latest number of victims as 15, including one dead, suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.
