US-based defence contractor General Dynamics announced on 9 December that Danny Deep, the chief operating officer of General Dynamics Land Systems, will be promoted to president of the business unit.
Deep will replace Gary Whited, who plans to retire on 1 April 2020 after 23 years with General Dynamics, according to the announcement.
Land Systems, which is headquartered in Sterling Heights, Michigan, develops, builds, supports, and upgrades military combat vehicles, including Abrams tanks and Ajax and Stryker fighting vehicles. It is part of the General Dynamics Combat Systems group.
Mark Roualet, executive vice-president for Combat Systems, called Deep "a proven leader with decades of experience designing, manufacturing, and sustaining the world's most advanced combat platforms".
