The US Department of Defense (DOD) is seeking proposals for a new experimentation effort exploring integration of 5G communication technologies into military bases across the United States, Pentagon officials have announced.
The two Request for Prototype Proposals (RPPs) are focused on the development of 5G applications for "smart warehouse and asset management" at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany in Georgia and "5G dynamic spectrum sharing" to support operations at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.
Contracting officials at the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Emerging Capabilities and Prototyping Office and project management officials at US Army Contracting Command did not attach a monetary value to the pair of prototype solicitations, originally issued on 29 November.
