Cubic Global Defense has awarded Leonardo DRS, Inc multiple contracts to deliver its advanced air combat training system pods to US and allied air forces around the world.
The awards, announced on 2 December, are valued at a combined USD60 million and will see more than 250 P5 Combat Training System (P5CTS) pods and associated services delivered to the US Air Force (USAF) and other, unspecified, customers.
As the principal subcontractor to Cubic Global Defense, the Leonardo DRS Airborne and Intelligence Systems business unit designs, produces, and supports the P5CTS pods for the Air Combat Training System.
The US military currently uses the P5CTS as its programme of record instructional aid, giving it a real-time breakdown of the scenarios being run and the missions being flown through the live monitoring and recorded mission data of air-to-air, air-to-ground, and surface-to-air training scenarios for real-time training and post-mission analysis.
