The United States has approved the sale of 13 BAE Systems 127 mm Mk 45 naval gun systems (NGSs) to the Indian Navy (IN) for an estimated USD1.021 billion via the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) route.
The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said on 20 November that the NGS sale includes 3,500 D349 Projectile, 5-inch/54 MK 92 MOD 1 rounds, other assorted ammunition, spares, personnel and equipment training, publications, overall logistics support and transportation.
“The proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the US by improving the security of a strategic regional partner,” the DSCA stated, adding that the NGS deal has no offset liability.
