Saudi Arabia's AEC is targeting opportunities in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and counter-UAV markets with domestic technology, developing systems for deployment in the country, Jane's has been told.
The company displayed a C-UAV system at the Dubai Airshow, consisting of a detection and soft-kill system, a detection system that utilises a 3D radar for detection from 3 km, day and night electro-optic cameras, command-and-control system, and a jamming system.
According to AEC's executive vice-president for business, Mohammed al-Khalifah, the company is also working on leveraging its experience in areas such as command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I) to increase domestic self-reliance, with potential solutions that could be used to export to regional partners.
