Elbit Systems has launched its new Magni quadcopter unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to provide enhanced situational awareness for mobile ground forces at squad, platoon, and company levels.

Weighing 2.5 kg and with an electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) payload of 350 g, the single-user-operated Magni can be assembled and launched in under a minute; has a range of 3 km; a service ceiling of 4,000 ft; and an endurance of 30 minutes. It also features a communications suite (dual S-Band or Long-Term Evolution for wireless broadband communication for mobile devices and data terminals), an automatic co-ordinate tracking capability, and a built-in interface with Battle Management Systems (BMS).
