The South African electro-optics arm of electronic sensor systems firm HENSOLDT announced on 17 November that it had signed a technology agreement with Saudi Arabia's INTRA Defence Technologies.
Under the agreement, INTRA is to be exclusive partner for HENSOLDT South Africa's Optronics division to develop and jointly produce electro-optical systems in Saudi Arabia. In particular, the two companies are to jointly develop airborne surveillance and targeting systems for medium- and high-altitude, long endurance (MALE, HALE) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as well as high-altitude surveillance aircraft, helicopters, and aerostats.
