Russian troops have entered a US airbase in northeast Syria after the final US personnel pulled out of the site.

Russia’s RT network posted imagery online on 15 November of Russian Military Police, supported by an Mi-35 attack helicopter and an Mi-8AMTSh transport helicopter, moving into the airbase known as the Kobani Landing Zone (KLZ).

It appeared the US troops left the site intact including barrack buildings, medical facilities, and fuel tanks.

KLZ was built from scratch by US military engineers in 2016 to support the Kurdish-led Syrian Defence Forces (SDF) against the Islamic State. Hundreds of US troops started leaving the site after US President Donald Trump ordered all American forces to leave Syria on 7 October.
