Australia firm Quickstep Holdings Limited has entered an agreement with US-based Radius Engineering to collaborate on setting up a facility in Australia to support the production of composite housings for Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter countermeasure flares.
The arrangement will see Quickstep incorporating a Radius resin transfer moulding (RTM) ‘workcell’ into its composite manufacturing facility at Bankstown, New South Wales. Quickstep said the process will allow the company to meet requirements from its flare housing contractor, Chemring Australia, and other aerospace customers with a “one-button actuation”.
Steve Osborne, Quickstep’s business development general manager, said, “Radius’ knowledge of advanced composite processes and the aerospace industry was invaluable and we have developed a strong and co-operative relationship.”
