The Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) Operations Branch has been making increasingly effective use of a battle simulation computer system, an officer in charge of operational simulations has told Jane’s .
“The combination of the development of technology and computing abilities on the one hand and the expertise to analyse large amounts of data at high speed on the other has allowed us to examine new opportunities to utilise these technologies to assist decision-makers in the military context of force build-up and the use of force,” said Professor Colonel (res) Gabi Siboni, chief methodologist of the IDF’s Concepts Laboratory.
Established in 2006 to serve the IDF’s General Headquarters and senior command, the Concepts Laboratory’s objective is to enable better-informed choices on operational planning, acquisitions, and force build-up, Siboni stated.
