The Subaru Corporation has announced strong gains in the first half of fiscal year (FY) 2019–20, partly supported through growth in its aerospace sector.
The Japanese company said on 6 November that its revenue in the period increased 7.7% year-on-year (y/y) to JPY1.6 trillion (USD14.7 billion), while operating profit surged by nearly 70% to JPY94.8 billion.
While most of that growth is attributable to Subaru’s automotive business, the company’s aerospace sales – including defence – were also robust. Aerospace revenue increased 10% to JPY71 billion and operating profit climbed 58% to JPY5.1 billion.
Subaru did not explain the strong aerospace sales.
