Malaysia ramps up anti-corruption effort

07 November 2019

The Malaysian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has said it is implementing new policies to ensure that defence procurement is free of corruption.

It said in a statement on 4 November that its anti-corruption focus is in line with the government's objective to enhance the integrity and transparency of defence financial management and procurement procedures.

The MoD said it has newly launched an anti-corruption handbook for MoD personnel and that it will soon publish a new anti-corruption policy for defence acquisitions.

The MoD said these initiatives come after the introduction of other guidelines, including a ban on receiving gifts, a policy on conflicts of interest, and the implementation of an 'anti-bribery management system'.
