The Australian Department of Defence (DoD) is seeking to drive a growth in defence industry skills through a new forum inaugurated in Perth on 6 November.
The DoD said the National Defence Industry Skilling and Workforce Summit will support efforts to ensure Australia has the skills required to deliver the government's "job-creating defence industry agenda".
Opening the forum, Melissa Price, Australia's Minister for Defence Industry, said, "The two-day summit will drive the unified national effort required to build a skilled defence industry workforce, which is critical to delivering our AUD200 billion (USD137.8 billion) investment in enhanced defence capability." She added, "The supply of skilled defence industry workers is critical, requiring all stakeholders across industry and government to work together."
