Lockheed Martin’s sales totalled USD15.2 billion in the third quarter of 2019, a 6% increase from the same period a year ago thanks to upticks in aviation, space, and weapons, the US defence contractor announced on 22 October.
Net earnings went up 9.2% to USD1.6 billion in the third quarter, while business segment operating profit rose 5% to USD1.7 billion. The company boosted its backlog by more than USD600 million to USD137.4 billion, setting a record for a fifth-straight quarter.
“We had another quarter of strong results – financially, strategically, and operationally,” said Marillyn Hewson, Lockheed Martin’s chair, president, and CEO.
