Orders for Saab more than doubled in the third quarter (Q3) of 2019 compared with the same period in 2018, the Swedish aerospace and defence group announced on 22 October.
Large-scale projects - especially an order to supply and integrate the combat system for the Finnish Navy's Squadron 2020 corvette programme - helped to deliver Q3 bookings of SEK9.38 billion (USD973.2 million), as opposed to SEK4.52 billion in Q3 2018. Order bookings for the first nine months of the year increased by 11% to SEK19.09 billion.
Speaking on his final day as Saab president and CEO, Håkan Buskhe described the Squadron 2020 order as "a major milestone for Saab as it means a reference customer in advanced combat systems, integration, and sensors".
