Elbit Systems pitched its Future Fighting Vehicle Demonstrator (FFVD) at the Association of the US Army 2019 (AUSA 2019) annual conference as a way to equip current and future infantry fighting vehicles with a host of technologies in order to reduce manpower.
William Nuckols, Elbit's director of ground combat systems, briefed reporters on 17 October about the FFVD effort that has been demoed to army officials.
"This vehicle started out of a hypothesis: is it possible to take a three-man vehicle ... and take it to a two-man crew and still be as capable?" Nuckols said.
"It's challenging but ... we've demonstrated that operationally you can do it," he added.
