EU condemns Turkish incursion into Syria but leaves arms embargo up to individual member states

The Council of the European Union meeting at the level of foreign ministers in Luxembourg on 9 October condemned Turkey's military incursion into northeast Syria for undermining regional stability and security and the progress made by the coalition fighting the so-called Islamic State.

Noting that some member states immediately halted arms exports licensing to Turkey, EU foreign ministers agreed "to strong national positions regarding their arms export policy to Turkey on the basis of the provision of the Common Position 2008/944/CFSP on arms export control".
