Poland launches second Kormoran II-class MCMV

Remontowa Shipbuilding in Gdańsk launched Albatros , the second Project 258 Kormoran II mine countermeasures vessel (MCMV) and laid the keel of the third MCMV, Mewa , on 10 October.

The keel of the Albatros was laid on 5 December 2018, and work to equip it is to be completed in January 2020. The MCMV is planned to be commissioned in February 2021 after sea trials and qualification.

The construction of Mewa is to be completed in 2020. The MCMV will be commissioned in November 2021.

The new MCMVs are to replace the Project 206F minesweepers ORP Czajka , ORP Flaming , and ORP Mewa .
