Philippines equips lead Parola-class vessel with Israeli-made weapon system

13 October 2019

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has equipped its lead Parola-class patrol vessel, BRP Tubbataha (4401), with a stabilised remote-controlled weapon station (RCWS) from Israeli company Elbit Systems.

The system, which has been incorporated with a 12.7 mm machine gun, is installed in the forward section just ahead of the vessel's bridge, and is located in between its two water cannons.

The PCG has neither issued a formal statement, nor officially replied to queries from Jane's on the RWCS. However, images published by Philippine media on the occasion of the PCG's 118th founding anniversary on 10 October suggest that the RWCS is incorporated with a day/night camera, and a laser rangefinder.
