Electro Optic Systems acquires EMS, launches new business division

Australian company Electro Optic Systems (EOS) has acquired Brisbane-based microwave satellite communications company EM Solutions Pty Limited (EMS), it was announced on 1 October.

The acquisition – valued at AUD26 million (USD17.4 million) in cash and shares – will support EOS’ establishment of a new business division, EOS Communication Systems. Existing EOS business units comprise Defence Systems and Space Systems.

EOS said the transaction features a 100% shareholding in EMS, which operates across commercial and defence domains and provides satellite communication systems to the Australian Army and Royal Australian Navy (RAN).

The deal includes a cash payment of AUD1.48 million and 4.27 million EOS shares.
