As part of wider efforts to strengthen nautical security in the region, Australia’s Maritime Border Command (MBC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to exchange white shipping information with the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).
The MBC is a multiagency taskforce within the Australian Border Force (ABF). The agreement, which entails co-operation in the sharing and protection of information related to civil maritime security activities, was signed on 23 September, the ABF said in a statement on 27 September.
“Australia and Singapore face similar civil maritime security challenges and this agreement will allow our two countries to continue to build on a range of capabilities,” said Commander of the MBC Rear Admiral Lee Goddard.
