The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has welcomed its 11th P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft (MPA).
The airframe was inducted in a ceremony at Seattle, United States, and is now undergoing verification and validation flying phases. Once these are complete, the aircraft will join the rest of the RAAF's fleet in Edinburgh, South Australia, in January 2020, said Australia's Minister for Defence, Linda Reynolds, in a statement on 27 September.
"The P-8A Poseidon aircraft is a cutting-edge aircraft that will conduct tasks including anti-submarine warfare; maritime and overland intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance; and support to search-and-rescue missions", the minister added.
