Two US cybersecurity companies – Owl Cyber Defense and Tresys Technology – are in the process of merging, according to Owl officials.

The merger is occurring because DC Capital Partners, the Alexandria, Virginia-based private equity investment firm that already owned Owl, recently acquired Tresys and told the two cyber companies to work together, said Brian Romansky, Owl’s chief technology officer.

Owl and Tresys are “very complementary” because Owl, based in Danbury, Connecticut, specialises in hardware, while Tresys, of Columbia, Maryland, focuses on software, Romansky told Jane’s on 16 September after speaking on a panel at an Air Force Association conference near Washington, DC.
