British Army chiefs will begin to implement their plans to field new Strike Brigades over the next 12 months, according to senior officers involved in the project.
Speaking on the first day of DSEI 2019, which is being held in London from 10 to 13 September, Brigadier James Martin, commander of 1st Armoured Infantry Brigade, which is designated to be converted into the first Strike Brigade, said, “We are well on the way to being the first Strike Brigade – we are moving into a period of implementation.”
Deliveries of the first Ajax vehicles to units of the brigade will start later this year and the first Ajax squadron will declare initial operational capability by July 2020.
