South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) has consolidated two of its most important business divisions to support improvements in the management of defence procurement projects.
DAPA said on 10 September that it will integrate its project management division and contract management division into one unit. DAPA said the consolidation will enhance the effectiveness and accountability in military acquisitions.
DAPA said the restructure is necessary given the expanding number - and the increasing complex nature - of the procurement projects it is overseeing. DAPA said the consolidation is consistent with efforts to improve all areas of defence under reforms announced in 2018.
