FN Herstal has announced four new cartridges in the 5.56 mm and .50 calibres to augment its existing range of ammunition.
The first of these is the FN PROPASS, a 5.56x45 mm armour-piercing round that features a tungsten carbide core the manufacturer states is capable of perforating armoured targets or Level IV ballistic protection composed of metal or ceramic inserts.
The second is the FN PERMAX, also in 5.56x45 mm, which is an enhanced performance round designed for use in urban environments against windscreens, vehicle bodywork, glazing, or masonry that will retain its performance after penetrating a barrier or object.
