Brazilian Navy to establish special operations command

10 September 2019

The Brazilian Navy has recently taken measures to create its own special operations command, designated as the Comando Naval de Operações Especiais (CoNavOpEsp).

This new organization to be subordinated to the Naval Operations Command (ComOpNav) will be based in Rio de Janeiro city and head by a serviceman with the rank of rear admiral.

The CoNavOpEsp will help unify - under a single command structure - the direction and co-ordination of special operations missions, as well as the management of personnel and material resources of special operations units.
