Dassault Aviation's defence exports surged in the first half of 2019 thanks to the initial delivery of Rafale multirole fighters to Qatar, the French company announced on 4 September.

The delivery of 10 Rafales to Qatar boosted Dassault's defence export sales to EUR1.5 billion (USD1.65 billion) in the first six months, up from EUR234 million during the same period last year.

The Qatar Emiri Air Force, which has ordered 36 Rafales, had received 15 aircraft as of the end of August, the company reported at a press conference hosted by its chairman and CEO Eric Trappier.

Dassault expects to deliver 26 Rafales to several customers in 2019, including the first of 36 that India has ordered.
