RP Optical Lab on 2 September unveiled its high definition (HD) microCORE 250HD cooled thermal imager. Developed for defence and security applications, the microCORE 250HD features a cooled 3µm to 5µm medium wave infrared (MWIR) detector with a 1280×720 format focal plane array (FPA) and a 10 µm detector pitch.

The microCORE 250HD has a parfocal ×16 continuous optical zoom lens and includes autofocus functionality. The IP65 weather-sealed system is shock and vibration certified to MIL-STD-810E, and the system is available in closed- or open-frame configurations.

The system features onboard data processing functionality that enables image enhancement and gain control. Digital interfaces include HD-SDI and Camera Link connections that output progressive video at the HD resolution of 1280×720 or interlaced HD video at a resolution of 1080i. Communication interfaces include RS-232, RS-422 serial, and Ethernet connectivity used for system integration and remote-control operation.
