INNOFENSE introduces dual-use Israeli technology for defence

13 August 2019

A new scheme has been launched in Israel to encourage companies with dual-use technologies to engage with the defence industry.

The Innovation Program for Civil and Defense Technology Initiatives (INNOFENSE) scheme was launched on 12 August by the Directorate of Defense Research and Development and Ze'ev Zilber, chief economist in the Israeli Ministry of Defense (MoD).

The MoD is set to publish a call for proposals in the coming days. Eligible programmes will operate in an innovation centre alongside private entities SOSA and Israel Homeland Security (iHLS).

In the first round of INNOFENSE a number of six-month projects are envisaged, each of which will benefit from an ILS200,000 (USD57,407) grant.
