Russia’s Okhotnik (Hunter) heavy unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has made its first flight, a video of which the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) posted online on 7 August 2019.
The video shows the Okhotnik taxiing on a runway before taking off, flying, and landing. Throughout the video, the UAV's undercarriage is lowered, as is usual during first flights.
The Russian MoD announced the first flight in a press release on 3 August, saying it took place at 1220 h Moscow time and lasted 20 minutes. The UAV was flown by an operator and circled the airfield several times at an altitude of 600 m before landing, the ministry added.
