The US Army is looking to shore up the situational awareness for troops inside Assault Breacher Vehicles (ABVs) by embedding unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) into the platforms.

In a 6 August market survey posted on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website, the service announced it is hunting for a UAS to carry a “smart radio to retransmit a radio frequency/signal” to improve troops’ visual awareness when they are “operating from a concealed and covered location”.

Although the service did not publicly disclose what type of UAS it is looking to acquire, it is asking potential vendors to provide details about their unmanned systems including dimension, weight, power, range, maximum duration, and more.
