Raytheon has signed a memorandum of understanding with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) to join the Team Artemis industry effort for the nation’s recently-announced small satellite constellation programme.
Launched by defence secretary Penny Mordaunt on 18 July, Artemis is the UK’s effort to establish a sovereign space capability via fast tracking the launch of a small satellite constellation, which will be provided via a joint industry-government effort.
Raytheon will offer its experience in developing space systems, which it said will help boost the MoD’s plan to launch a small satellite demonstrator within a year, accelerating the UK’s efforts in this area so that it can effectively operate in this domain.
