BAE Systems has sub-contracted Australian company Airspeed to provide the replenishment at sea stump mast (RASSM) for the Type 26 frigate.
The company develops composite materials for aerospace, marine, and energy-related systems, and will provide the RASSM system that will be integrated onto the Royal Navy’s first three Type 26 City-class frigates that are being built in Glasgow, Scotland.
The work is part of BAE’s commitment to incorporating Australian industry into the global supply chain of the vessel’s development under promises made that led to the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN’s) June 2018 selection of a Type 26-derived frigate for its Hunter-class programme.
