Belgium, Netherlands sign joint MCMV contract

Belgian Defence Minister Didier Reynders and Dutch Secretary of State for Defence Barbara Visser signed the contract with Naval Group and ECA Robotics on 5 July in Brussels to supply their countries with six mine countermeasures vessels (MCMVs), their ministries announced.

The 2,800-tonne vessels will be equipped with a package of unmanned surface and underwater vehicles from ECA Robotics: A18-M autonomous underwater vehicles, T18-M towed sonars, and mine identification/destruction systems comprising Seascan and K-ster C remotely operated vehicles operated autonomously from the Inspector 125 unmanned surface vessel, which can be launched and recovered by the MCMVs.
